we stopped at natural hot/cold springs on the way to the jungle--like giant hot tubs and the smaller ones are like ice water so it's quite exhilarating to go back and forth

gracias a dios we had a good bus driver.

edge of the road...

paja toquilla tree-- it has 6 uses. the leaves are used to make roofs, as well as various things in artesan crafts, and "panama hats" (which are not actually from panama)... and we ate the root which is a bit like artichoke-- yum.

when you break open branches of the "tree of the lemon ant" you will find little ants that taste like...lemon! they are tiny and crawl on your hands and you lick them off--they dissolve and are like citrus sugar..yum. i almost ate a queen

giant trees, i couldnt see the top

i had my solo for one hour-- i peed, tried not to get rained on, and mostly watched this spider weave it's web. i couldnt have my camera with me so i only could get this when the group came and found me
